Shorter driver shaft

When I was fitted by TM for my SLDR I had, and still have a cut down Black Tie driver shaft that is effectively a 3w shaft and it offers so much more control.

I have been using a shorter shaft in my driver for around two years now and I find I'm much more consistent with this, I even won a prize for the longest drive at a society day at the weekend.

I tried gripping down on my driver, must have lost 20 yards.

It helped a touch with the contact so it's good to know. I think I just need to not grip all my clubs at the very top!

Being 5"6 and from the shire. I have all mine cut down. Guys in the pro shop said everybody should regardless of swing speed etc. Aparently it will offer a lot more control. Personally I find it way easier to hit consistently and I absolutely spank it. Par 4 at ours 280 to green and I'm always there or there abouts

I might be flying solo here but a shorter shaft in my driver achieves nothing beneficial.
Similar in terms of strike and dispersion but less distance - so much so that I'm better off using a 3 wood...

I'm really tempted to try this out after reading all of this, can anyone recommend a shaft to replace the standard fujikura pro 60 stiff shaft for my TM M2 10.5?

Would a stiff M2 3 wood shaft make a difference?

You aren't alone, but its heresy in such threads....

Most people would be better off using their 3 wood full stop!

I bought an aldila tour green 3 wood shaft, same as the shaft in my 3 wood, 75g but I put a g30 adaptor on it for my driver, it's early days but I am actually shocked at how much more in control I currently feel. Don't get me wrong I still hit the odd bad one and it's a work in progress but it's def worth a try if you are maybe struggling with the big stick. It's about 1.5 inches shorter and little heavier and really suits my swing. Anyway, just wanted to share as I'm feeling good about :)

Hi, particularly interested in how it compared to your stock tour shaft? I love the tour green - use it in my 3W and Hybrid. I play the same/similar driver (LS G30) with the 65 gram tour shaft. It is the only shafted driver that I have not swapped out for an aftermarket heavier/shorter shaft. The tour 65 goes surprisingly well for me with no alterations, however given I have always played shorter and heavier driver shafts and that I love the tour green - I am interested in how it compares.

So the advice seems to be to get a driver with a shorter shaft and more loft.
We used to call that a 3 wood.
The only difference seems to be a 'mini driver' is a bit more difficult to hit off the fairway.

My advice would be...if you cant hit your driver, get a strong 3 wood that you can hit off the tee AND off the fairway.

I have one of those Bob, actually use my 3 wood a lot.

Jusme, the tour shaft is great and goes miles I get a good flight from it too. However I am prone to hitting the odd one that's so bad I could be two fairways over ha ha
So I put the tour green in, it gives me more control, I get a lower flight from it, still get great distance, but feel more in control, however, it doesn't feel as good as the tour 65, it certainly does the job though.

Or...
Shorten your driver and get a 5 wood.
