I bought an aldila tour green 3 wood shaft, same as the shaft in my 3 wood, 75g but I put a g30 adaptor on it for my driver, it's early days but I am actually shocked at how much more in control I currently feel. Don't get me wrong I still hit the odd bad one and it's a work in progress but it's def worth a try if you are maybe struggling with the big stick. It's about 1.5 inches shorter and little heavier and really suits my swing. Anyway, just wanted to share as I'm feeling good about :)

First thing I do with a new shaft for driver is chop it to 44" and I prefer a 75g weight for my driver too. More strikes are out of the centre and more control and not loose distance either.

I have to agree I much prefer the heavier shaft, but not sure I would have cut the 65g tour shaft I bought with driver I'm glad I bought a diff one try.

Had a 3 wood shaft in my driver for a lot of last year, in the end had an inch or so cut off the driver shaft and much more comfortable with it like that

Do the pro's not have shorter driver shafts than the ones the normal punter buys?

Yes they do!

A huge part of the reason for 45+ length of retail drivers is tp be able to claim that additional distance can be gained - by robot swings!

I am thinking of ordering an 80g tour shaft off ping and having it shortened to the the length of the aldila, I just prefer the heavier weight I think, would like a slightly higher launch too but still low spin so always looking. This cost me 40 quid for the shaft and adaptor and the results have been great, working on hitting it a bit higher but don't really need to, just trying to keep the options open, only been in the driver since last week so still adjusting. Cheers fundy.

I noticed that your G30 is fitted with a Tour shaft 45.25 " 1/2 shorter than the standard shaft, what length is the aldila shaft you are playing. I have a Tour 80 in mine and I agree the shorter heavy shaft has added more control to my driver swing

Do you guys chop it of from the grip end?

Yes! That's the end to use to change the length.

Chopping anything off the tip will normally change the flex!

Bear in mind that brand new shafts, that are normally 46", often recommend that tipping is performed if going into 3W, 4W or 5W.

i brought an adila tour green shaft from someone on here, that was 2 inches shorter to try in my Mizuno.

a real waste of time lost so much distance it is unreal.

£50 down the drain

The shaft I bought plays 1.5 inches shafted than the ping tour one. Hard to see any loss in distance for me so far but I notice an improvement in accuracy, like I say though it's baby step.
What seems to be the issue for u Patrick that's causing the loss?

Ive just bought a M1 Aldila shaft for my R15 70g stiff

for me its lower flight and im easily 10 yards on average longer and straighter

and getting tons of roll now the weather has firmed the fairway up

Lopped quite a a bit of an old 3 wood and it never felt quite the same again. Felt nice at address but I was all over the place with it.

Is it easy enough to swap shafts on an adjustable driver? Would quite like to try my 915 3 wood shaft on my 915 driver. Is it as simple as taking head of with wrench and replacing?

915 Woods and Hybrids don't fit 915 Driver, Woods and Hybrid can be changed with each other but not with the 915 Driver.
