shortening wedges

I am thinking of taking an inch of my wedges, they feel very long, although they are pretty standard im sure, so toying with having them cut down.
What kind of impact will that have on the swing weight? I know that they will play a little flatter, and i am happy with that, but should they be couter balanced at the top or will it make little difference?
