Fully agree. Always try to use the same type of ball and practice with them too. It creates consistency whatever choice of ball you make.

As for me, I think the prov1's, hx, z-star are all pretty similar and not significantly shorter than so called distance balls. I do try to use the spin/grab from 50 yards in. It creates slightly more margin for error.......slightly mis-hit and it flies less but rolls out, hit it pure and it will grab more etc. All depends on the type of greens/grass and does need practice to be confident in playing these. For all other shots it's all about the feel off the face. Difficult to describe but some types just feel "right" and some "wrong". To me a hard ball doesn't feel very good at all especially when putting which is another massive factor.

There is not a lot of difference in distance between a Premium tour ball and a 2 pieace distance ball.
