Good Evening,

New to Golf and started playing in June and and I am completely hooked! Have had about 5 lessons in total once I knew it was what I wanted to invest my energy and spare time into and in the future will take more lessons when finances allow as spent a fair bit on new clubs etc. Since I have been playing my distances have gained a little but not expecting to see a huge difference as I am only 5"6 and about 9 stone. And to be honest my personal choice and the shots I like to see (TV, people I play with etc) and attempt are not massive drives etc its the short game that excites me and I enjoy practising everything involved with the short game.

I have been looking for a nice book on short game Golf and have seen several about but would like to see if anyone on here has any recommendations on any books? Just received a Ken Brown book on putting for Christmas which I am loving.

Any advice would very much be gratefully received positive or negative.

Cheers

There is the Dave Pelz Short Game Bible. Very analytical (unsurprising given his NASA background) but some good stuff. There are also loads of good videos out there. Short game is an area I struggle with and have been following some of the stuff from Danny Maude on youtube that has helped

Getting up and down by Tom Watson is my go to book. Easy to follow, focuses on some fundamentals and generally when I’m struggling for consistency round the greens helps me refocus.

There’s loads of good stuff on You Tube etc... as others have posted above. Sky also has a good series of lessons with.... available to download. I particularly recommend the one with Laura Davies which has some brilliant tips on bunker play which really helped me and are my swing thoughts when I find myself ‘on the beach‘.

You can’t learn golf from a book imo.
It can give you some pointers but the best way to learn is just hit balls. ( not easy this time of year)
Experiment with different clubs , hood the face , open the face etc.
Best book I have read is Nick Faldo ( can’t remember the title.)
But it’s a tough read very technical.
Just get out there and practice.
Playing with good players helps if you can .
Watch what they do , how they play certain shots , ask questions ( not in comps obviously) most will want to help.
Just enjoy your practice .
