Went down to AG yesterday to pick up the new set of custom fit AP1s, and they exactly as the title says ...

Seems such a shame to even consider sullying their appearance by using them for something so banal as hitting a ball with them. But needs must, so I did. (So sorry 5 iron, sorry, 6 iron, sorry PW... ) And with a little help from me, they strike the ball so sweetly. On other hand, I'm sure they'd do better on their own without me. On the range, I'm sure they are a good 10yd longer than my old ones.

I love 'em, I love em. Oops - sorry, getting carried away. But, must go now, to have another look at them while they are still so shiney. It's gonna break my heart to take them on the course & get them muddy....

They are indeed some good clubs I hit both the AP1 + AP2 yesterday, I was torn between the AP2 + my new MX-200. The only reason I went for the mizuno was that they feel better of the face, however, the AP2 + 1 are much better looking.

If you ever fancy a game mate let me know and we can fix summit up.

will be interested to see what you think of these after a round or so. as you may have seen in my DTR thread, I sort of have my eye on these as possible replacements, so your thoughts will be interesting.

now im not sure if i'm about to make a cardinal sin, but what HC do you play off out of interest?

Sorry for taking time to get back - just been staring into my golf bad.....

Not a sin as far as I'm concerned... just been cut to 19 (though got mine from the EGU rather a club). I think it's a bit stiff for me, but I ain't complaining

I tried a lot of clubs before deciding which - and actually settled on the AP2s before going to the fitting centre. It was while there that we changed back to AP1 as being that bit more forgiving.

And the best bit - which I missed off the original post was I got them at a verrrrry good price. Eight irons (3-PW) plus vokey wedge - including non standard shafts, and non standard grips all for just £510. Admittedly it was because AG made a big mistake in pricing the custom order, but to their great credit, when they realised, they still honoured the deal. So well, done them (they can have my custom again...)

Haha, and time, all of 30 mins!

Interesting points that you originally went for the 2's but then went back again. Really going to have to hit them somewhere, as it seems people who have got either like them, so must just be down to what suits you best (possibly stating the obvious here).

Nothing better than the look of a shiny new club. My tour burners are only 5 weeks old so are still retaining their shine for the moment. Good to see some positive feedback about AG and their customer service by not trying to pay for their mistake. Enjoy the clubs and hope the handicap continues to come down

They tried.... a little bit. But not much, and I didn't have to argue much. I mean, I even felt a little guilty. But then, new clubs is new clubs. I was going to make amends by buying an expensive new putter as well, but since they didn't have the one I wanted, they had to make do with 2 dozen new balls.

On serious side, I don't often find much to praise from the "chains", but when someone does good, or does the right thing, then it deserves a mention.

My ap2's are a good few months old now and still look as good now as they did when I bought them, simple little soft covers have done the job rightly so far so hopefully they will make them last for the years and years I intend to keep them.

Dave,

They are currently sitting in the spare room until I decide what to do. At the moment they are my go to clubs when everything is out of kilter as they are more forigiving than the Tour Burners. Not sure what I am going to do with them yet.
