I can only dream when I see what Phil Mickleson can do with a wedge. But is he better than Seve was. To me Seve was the true master

At the risk of upsetting the Seve fans, I think Phil is marginally better with a wedge from really close in BUT Seve could hit recovery shots from miles out... Still Seve but how much is that rose tinted spectacles... Seve

both equally capable of getting themselves into, and out of, trouble.....

Phil edges the high road, Seve the low - both a long way ahead of the rest but then again few at their level get/got into those situations as consistently!

I think Seve edges it.
Phil uses spin a lot more than Seve did.

I've got the impression that both of them hit it off target on purpose just so they can show off another miracle chip or pitch. :)

Seve as he played at a time when the most lofted club in the bag was a 56 degree sand wedge. Plus the shots he could hit with every iron in the bag is probably in the top two or three of all time.

So while Phil is great, Seve IMO is still the best there's ever been when it comes to improvising shots and recovering from bad situations

Seve every time, The man was a magician. Phil produces the shots around the greens but with the same equipment I would go for Seve every day of the week.
