Seriously?

They do. However it's bad news for Manchester and Gateshead factories as they only produce and assemble the UK passport currently.

Interesting, I didn’t know that bit. I heard the gaffer of the Gateshead factory saying he wanted Theresa May to come up and explain to his workers why most of them would be losing their jobs.

Do they not make other things in Gateshead, not just passports? I though they did although that is not based on any inside knowledge.

The head guy at De la Rue has played a clever PR game. It will be interesting to see if it comes off.

De La Rue boss Martin Sutherland said it was "unclear whether jobs at the firm's Gateshead factory would be affected". I'm not sure which bit of that statement suggests that most of them would belosing their jobs.

I heard him a couple of times. He was suitably ambiguous. They may go, they may not. He threw it in to unnerve the govt, to apply pressure. He was a little more cautious when pressed as telling staff via the media you are going to lose your job is not the right way to go.

Absolutely not the right thing to do. If someone resigns because of his veiled comments they can sue for constructive dismissal.

Two parts to the place the secure printing side of things (probably be okay as they do notes/and holograms) and the passport assembly/perso there'll be at least half of their workforce feeling very nervous for their futures

Because of the reason I said above maybe?

I don't think so, not when it comes to money.

Another comment has made me chuckle re dont want to pay £20-£25 extra for renewing there passport. If the cheapest always gets the job. Then we might as well just out source to the Chinese. How's that right?
