Anyone with similar issues with separation of upper and lower body.

I wonder if you could help. I've gone a big swing change and its helped really well - gone for 9.6 to 6.7 (with my lowest being 6.0)
but my biggest issue is Separating my lower body from my upper body.

So I tend to do a couple of things

1) Get to far ahead so either fat or pushing the ball.
2) Don't follow through with hips enough so the arms and body take over and pull.

But when I get it right - its brilliant - very good. So need to improve tempo, timing and SEPARATION!

Any good drills to assist with this or gone through something similar?

Luckily I've found really good driving (with great mats and range balls ) in Morpeth where I'm working currently so I'll be taking some extended lunch breaks from now on.

Yes, I know the one. Locals know it as Gubeon range, it was taken over a few years ago by a company, N1 (I guessed at A1 but knew it was something 1). Nice set up and a lot of newbies to the game start there via the range and par 3 course.

Longhirst GC, a few miles away, easy on the new bypass, has a very decent range, chipping area etc that is worth a visit if you want a change and a pop up ball feeder (still makes me smile every time that one). The range is owned by a company that is either owned or part owned by Steve Harmison, trivia point.

Anyway, enough local chat, I am getting your thread off its point. Apologies.

I struggle with separation too- a feeling I have is keeping my upper torso feeling as if it is facing away from target for longer-IE where my body faces at top of backswing- so my downswing has been initiated and my hips are starting to move I've just delayed the upper torso a fraction. It's anything but staying back but is just a feeling to get the hips going 1st.

Always had issues with this due to lack of flexibility due to years of weight training.

If I make a full turn to the top then I'm so tight between my upper and lower body as soon as my hips move my upper body moves and I'm over the top before I can do anything. I almost have to drop the club down before I unwind my body if i want to get the club back down on plane.

When i get too quick in my down swing, I'm basically screwed. Massive cut or huge pull

ah right - I'm not up with the local lingo - being from Durham. lol
it looks good by the longhirst GC website - its a little far out - the N1 is ideal only 4 mins from where I'm working haha Extended lunch breaks! boom!
