seniors

Some very big generalisations going on here.
I played off 6 when I achieved senior status, a couple of seniors I know are around scratch.
We are talking Monty/JAM age remember.

Juniors......do we mean the guys who can hit 300 yard drives.

Should this thread not include all golfers.

I think there should be a set of tees and that people of whatever age should be allowed to play from whichever suits their ability\enjoyment\state of mind.
Is the correct response, there are some quality seniors out there, if the want to play from the back tees then they should, my boss is off a very tidy handicap at 55.

I've really got the ump about this thread!

Stop it now or I shall contact some Government department and lodge a complaint. The day I play off anything other the comp tees I shall retire from the game

:p

Let the senior section decide what tee they use during senior comp but if playing in the main club comps then use the same tees as everyone else - I know plenty seniors still playing well of the whites

You can check my profile if you want to know how old I am, but I'm definitely no spring chicken. I play 3 qualifiers a week on most weeks throughout the whole year from white pots, pushing a 3-wheel trolley on a pretty physically demanding course of some 6,400 yards with 7 par 4s of 380 yards and over - and my speed of play and walking is as fast as any whippersnapper posting on this thread. PM me for a game if you think all seniors are as decrepit as some of you claim.

Personally rather than have a separate tee-box I would prefer they had a different course to play........

I don't even know your h/cap but I bet there are many seniors at your club with a lower h/cap than yours:rolleyes:

I was 'forced' into the seniors last year, met some decent people, joined one 4 ball and I'm the highest h/cap:eek:
Partner won the Seniors Open with scratch under par

Most of ours only play off the yellows which is understandable. We have a big(ish) carry over an environmental (approx. 160 yards off the yellow) and the club have provided a forward tee for the seniors to use although not for comp play. It makes sense. Why waste a ball on a shot you have probably a 2/10 chance of making and it becoming no fun

I'm not surprised - got my arse handed to me in a scratch comp by a guy who was 67 playing of 3 - amazing around the greens. Got a proper lesson in short game that day. Wonderful bloke to play golf with - was an utter pleasure getting beat 4&3

And all of them shuffle along at snails pace, don't repair pitch marks, don't let anyone through and spend ages on the tee box shuffling into the correct position while each other tees off

I play with the seniors on a very regular basis - twice a week minimum and and not one of the 30-40 act like that . Maybe one person is a little bit slow but he gets dragged round

Ours take 4hrs just like everyone else, can't see what your problem is to be honest, our senior section is a great section of the golf club and without them our subs would be through the roof

hi

what does the forum members thinks of forward tees for seniors/ just a thought

short off the tee

Surely anyone can play off of any tee ? No matter who you are you the choice is yours, whilst I always refer to the red tee's as the ladies, there is nothing to stop me playing from them, maybe not in comps, our seniors play their own comps off yellow tees generally

You should play from the tee of the day if playing in non comp roll up friendly type.

I shuffled around 9 holes last Sunday morning, albeit on my own, repaired mine and others pitch marks, replaced divots and dropped one shot, carried my own bag and was round in 1 hour 10 minutes. Generally play with another old fart + a youngster of approaching 50, always round in well under 4 hours including a food stop at the halfway house.
