I am 75 with two torn rotator cuffs but can still play two or three times a week. However, I'm losing distance off the tee. Recently I replaced my Ping G425 driver's Alta CB 55 R shaft with a Fujikura Vista Pro 55 R2 (which is senior flex). I didn't notice a big difference after a couple of rounds so I switched back. My question is did switch back too quickly? I was hoping to pick up at least ten more yards without losing accuracy. Should I try the senior shaft again and give myself a month or so to get used to it? Thanks for any advice.

As there is no set industry standard for the stiffness of shafts it may be that the Regular was very similar flex to the Senior (or possibly even less stiff) so I suspect it will take some trial and error or a proper fitting to find a suitable shaft for you.

You can only really compare flex in the same model..ie Ventus Blue Stiff is very different from Ventus Black Stiff, Ping Alta Regular is different to Ping Tour Regular
Flex can vary greatly between models, even from the same manufacturer

Ping Alta shafts play softer than the quoted flex.

I play regular in a Fujikura (TM driver) but stiff in an Alta (Ping 3 wood).

Thanks for all the info. I played yesterday with the Fujikura Vista Pro senior and some tee shots were actually shorter than the Alta CB regular. I guess a professional shaft fitting is probably the way to go.
