I am off to Turnberry tomorrow to watch the practice day for the Senior Open. It is only £10 to get in and my daughter gets in for free. Weather looks to be ok for the day so heres hoping for an enjoyable day out. Only stay 45 minutes away, so really handy.

Is anyone else going ?

I was suprised to see Roger Chapman at 25-1 with the bookies to win the seniors Open as the blokes already won the seniors PGA and US Open.

Mate of mine qualified yesterday - at Dundonald.

He just rang me from his walk of Turnberry somewhat aghast at how tough the course looks!

Loads of 450-ish par 4s and par 3s of 230 and 206 to tiny greens ain't conducive to birdies either!

Heading from Ayr,should be a good day if the weather forecast is to be trusted.

Does anyone know when the gates open/

I think you are in for a treat.

I went to the event when it was at Sunningdale just after Watson's heroics in the 2009 Open and the atmosphere was great.

Definately check out the range. Might be a few dodgy swings but at one point I was watching Watson and Norman hitting balls next to each other. Both still swinging like 30 year olds.

Did you say you USED TO work for the cooncil ??

Quite a few moons ago now.

The Cooncil are very careful on freebies now after the Chief Exec and his buddies went on a 'cultural exchange' to the Dubhi golf a few years ago and recieved some serious flack.

Me, I have some friends who are members and I generally get an invite.
Off to Hampden tomorrow to see the World champions.

Weather looks great and the course is in very good condition with tough rough.
