Senior Flex Shafts, advice

How much change has there been with your swing speed? My understanding is that senior flex shafts are targeted at those who are loosing swing speed.

I've recently changed drivers and the fitter put a lighter weight, but regular shaft in.

Have you tried upping the loft on your current driver to see if that helps?

Good luck

Swing speed has definitely dropped owing to a back injury, I can connect with the ball OK, with no problems getting it off the ground, but noticably over the last few months since the injury, im pushing a lot of shots 30 yards right, not slices, pushes. Alex from Orka said it was a classic example of a slow swing speed not letting the shaft flex properly, The A flex shafts solve this problem and I was hitting slight draws, but straight down the line, with less effort and a higher swing speed.

Newly shafted clubs should be with me on Saturday and Im playing Huntercombe on Tuesday, so will report back

Update:
Picked up the clubs from Alex Orka yesterday all done bar the Sldr hybrid and Big Bertha Driver, Just awaiting the connectors and they should just be a couple of days. But I have a society game on Tuesday and Alex has very kindly lent me an Orka driver with the A-Flex shaft to tide me over.

Range session today
Very impressed, went through all the clubs taking a couple of shots with each club, then started targeting the 100 yard marker then the 150 and the 175, particularly pleased with the hybrid,

Then I play individual holes from my club, in my head, so im on the 3rd which is a 478 par 5, nice drive which would have gone 200-220ish, followed by a nice hybrid about 180, which leaves me about 90 to the middle of the green, out comes the 52 wedge (which also has an A-Flex shaft) aim at the 100 yard marker and boom , ball lands about 10 yards in front about a yard off line.

Then onto the 6th which is a 314 par 4, nice drive down the left side to avoid the trees again about 200. 9 iron to the green which flies nicely, but draws slightly and would be in the rough greenside left. Chip with a 52 to the flag about 20 yards away, close enough to set up a par putt.

then onto the 16th a 433 yard par 4 uphill SI 2. Again a good drive 200 ish, decent 7 iron, about 140 , followed by another 90 yard 52 wedge, to set up a makable par putt.

The vast majority of shots were pretty straight, which was the whole object of the exercise, yes there was the odd bad shot, the occasional fat and thin But overall at this moment in time, I am a very happy Fragger.

Cant wait for my society day at Huntercombe on Tuesday, and then Wednesday, against Imurg & CVG and hopefully get back to being competitive and getting that handicap down to well below 18.

2016 is definitely YOTF "Year Of The Fragger" :) :)

Sounds like a real improvement from your old clubs/shaft. Here's hoping that this is a good outcome and that your back troubles are a thing of the past!

Looking good Phil, be careful playing 2 days in a row , get yourself a NB putter grip and save yourself a lot of bending.
Keep us posted , hopefully my new shinies will arrive next week , can't wait.

Hoping for an xmas invite from some kind links member [ west coast] as i don't want to get my new shinies dirty on some muddy old parkland course like mine :D.

Further update
First try of the new shafts in anger at a society do at Huntercombe, and very pleased, had some good approach shots which peppered the green, will need to work on some of my distances as they will have now changed, but happy with 5th place with 34 points out of a field of 22, in really bad conditions this afternoon, also some very tricky greens.

Playing the Bro tomorrow so will be able to compare the new setup on a familiar course :)

Phil, out of interest what shafts did you end up with? I know Alex has some stuff made by UST and others to his liking or what fits with his products. Are they graphite? What sort of weight are they? Ta

the irons, wedges & Hybrids have UST Flatline 80A shafts. the Driver has a 60A shaft, same manufacturer
Graphite throughout

Go Floppy, Its The Way Forward :)

Glad to hear your back playing Phil , as The Coach posted earlier i would try and find a TPI instructor i saw one at the start of the year and she helped me no end with my flexibility and strength exercises, all which can be done at home. Ive got a cyst inside my spinal chord which put pressure on my right side which has a tonne of weakness so the exercises have been great, give it a try
