Maybe someone from GM towers will have the opportunity to prove / disprove the theory some day.

Play a championship course set up for a tournament and see how a handicap golfer fairs with a second chance on every shot.

I don't think that there is a world of difference between a cat 1 golfer and a tour pro if you compared their best shots. Only that the tour player will be a lot more consistent, robot like and very reliable .

Take that advantage away with some free retakes and it's going to be a lot more level playing field IMHO.

Maybe not a good Cat 1 but that isn't me hence my pessimism!! :rofl:

I could reach Par 4's but hitting a 6 iron to their 9 iron, even with a couple of try's, is difficult to keep up with.

The greens at Augusta, per your example, would probably eat me alive!

Iain, it doesn't matter a jot if you take a 6I to their 9I besides if you play in the same conditions as they do you would probably bridge the gap a little. Have you seen how much further a ball travels on a warm sunny day compared to what we play in mostly

I think you could too, good man. I wonder what odds you would be at the start? A rank outsider or one of the favs.

And yes I am stir crazy, I want to play golf until I look out of the window.
