At the mo am in Hunstanton. Long story short. My car had been at Seat dealers twice. Driving along and the car just cuts out. Dont matter if your doin 70 mph or 30mph. It just cuts out. Changed a high pressure fuel sensor last week for £100. Got it home and it cut out. Told them to send a recovery truck to pick it up.
Had a phone call on the course from a mechanic who said it is now summat else. £450. Ave told them to leave it til i contact Seat coz am not happy one bit. Surely theres a safety issue here. Especially if they change the part with an identical part.
So who can i report the problem with the car to. What governing body? Seat are gonna get a round of ear bending off me. The garage ia gonna be told to take £100 off the bill but, quite frankle am bogged off with the dealers and Seat.

Petrol or diesel?

VW diesel engines are prone to EGR valve issues, or sticking turbo vanes. Both cause the engine to go into limp mode, which is very scary if youre at 70 when it happens.

The car is 3 yr six months old. Diesel model. Took it to local garage who i have used for years. He said it may be fuel pump but not sure. So he would not do it and advised me to go to Seat where i bought the car from from New. They changed the sensor. But its not that. The AA tild me i shiuld have the £100 back or put towards a new “ part” once the problem is found. But my moan is surely it is a safety issue that the car just cuts out.
If the part is replaced like for like. Will it happen again. If so it dont give me much confidence in the car. I fit is an upgraded part. Surely they know of the problem.
Its a long un with Seat but i am not a happy bunny

Fundy the car had a long life service engine. In essence it had a service every 2 years so it is up to date.

About time German car makers got into the 21st century and started offering five year warranties...

Lad had all sorts of 'issues' with his diesel Golf [aside from 'illegal' emissions]... After several visits to main dealers and other local 'experts with no long term resolution... He hit the forums and after a day going through all the possibilities, offered as possibilities, it would appear much of the problem was due to split/perished vacuum hoses...

And, after all that... On getting rid of the Golf he replaced it with another VAG product...
UNBELIEVABLE Jeff...

Its not the engine that long life, but the oil used. Personally I would always stick to yearly servicing for engine longevity as clean oil makes a big difference.
I would going back to the dealers it went to, or a third party VW engine specialist.
When you say it cuts out, do you mean goes into limp mode or just completely cuts out all together as if the ignition has been turned off?

Bunker it has done both. Cut out and gone into limp mode. Thing is once ignition is switched off, after it stops then cuts out. It resets itself and off you drive til it cuts out again. Anything from a minute to 10

I would suggest the fault codes it will be giving need a good read. I have had similar issues with other VW engines, goes to limp mode them turn off and back on at ignition and off you go...till it repeats. Turbo related issues have been most of my faullts, whether a valve, sensor or the actual turbo itself. Also had the mass iar flow meter play up on the barge (which again isn't unheard of) but I was able to remove it and clean it up and didnt fault after that.
If you intened to keep the car any length of time, I would strongly advise to not do long life servicing and go yearly, or at least get the oil changed yearly.

Cheers bunker. Do intend keeping it so may well get it serviced. Filter has been delivered done phil 👍

Again, has it had "the fix"? If so, that's your issue, needs to be taken back to Seat to fix, at their expense.

No hugh it has not had any “ fix”.nit sure what that is. Managed to log onto that Facebook site so will have a play on there 👍
