Sorry (not really :o ;)) this is a blatant trumpet blowing alert!!

One of my goals for this season has been ticked off the list in my first competitive outing of the year. Last year I never broke 70 in a competition round so made it one of my goals for this year.

Went out this morning in the midweek medal (our 1st competition of the year) in just perfect golfing conditions and managed to sneak in a 69. Level going out and 1 under on the tougher back nine which was into the breeze.

Went with my new resolution of warming up and also a new putting routine which worked like a dream with only 26 putts. Holed a lot from 10foot and in to keep the round going.

Chuffed already, cash in the account and really looking forward to season starting properly. :D

Either your chipping/wedges was on fire or that's some awesome putting stats. Care to share the New routine, could do with another 2/3 off each :)

Nice shooting

Well done, that is some scoring.

Intrigued though as to what your new putting routine is. Care to enlighten us? :)

Thanks fellas, I've not reinvented the wheel with my putting routine or anything though.

I used to read the putt, then put the ball down with the sharpie line pointing to where I wanted to start the putt, pick up the marker and away I went. However my judgement of where the line was pointing was shocking so when I had a look, a right edge putt would be pointing at least a cup right and so on. I didn't want to start to be "JB Holmes-esque" and go back for a realign so i just used to adjust my aim to the line once i got into the ball.

Now I read the putt before I even mark it as soon as i get to the green, lift and clean it, place it back down lined up, take a step back to check it and adjust if needed. No practice stroke, just line up everything with my sharpie line, which I can now trust , then let it go.

I am certainly hoping that that will get me into 3.something, but I haven't checked my exact for ages and think I may have drifted out to 3.9 or 4.0 so it may be touch & go. Good start to the year anywaysup. :D

Good shooting fella, my aim is to break 80 again this season, shot a 80 the other weekend so getting there I can feel it.

I've won Jan & Feb monthly medals this year so far, put a little too much pressure on myself on Sunday for March Medal and totally got in my own way.

Anyway got March Stableford on Saturday and just want to enjoy my golf and have some fun.

Well done Robo , good scoring so early in the year. That'll give you some confidence going forward and thats 90% of it really.

Look forward to seeing you back down to 3 and even better
