I've tried a few but I've never really gotten on with them. If you slightly misfit it the ball goes nowhere and if you get it out of the middle the ball rockets off down the corridor in my local American Golf :)

Just my 2p.

The glib answer to the OP's question is: Yes, Scotty Cameron putters are excellent putters.

The subtext question is whether he should choose one. I think that is partly the wrong question. I would not advise choosing a brand and then comparing quite different types of putter within that brand. I would choose a style of putter and then compare different brands in that style. Whether you choose the style by eye, fitting or tarot cards is up to you.

OK, you like the Del Mar. I like them myself. Based on the oldWilson TPA XVIII that Faldo liked. One of my regular putters is this one:

But there are other brands in the same design. The Odyssey number 9, TM Maranello, Mizuno MR T101 etc. There is also the Wilson 8883, at a great price of about £65, and no doubtNike, Cleveland and any number of others.

Try a few different brands, see which one feels best.

I'm not gonna say that Scotty's are better than any other brand, but mine is the best putter I have ever owned by an absolute country mile. As you say though, Putters are a personal thing

Currently looking at investing in a new putter and love the look of the California del Mar. They have great reviews and a lot of pros use the scottys.

Anyone recommend something other than the mainstream putters? Have you something different from the mainstream brands that work for you?

Putters are definitely a personal thing, advice please??

Stop copying me man...lol...

I am interested in the Studio Select Newport 2's or 2.5 (with weights in ) not centre shafted.Lovely looking club.

THIS is GOOD ADVICE

I personally judge a putter on how it looks to ME 1st & foremost
Then try it out to see how it rolls / feels / performs

The Brand means ZILCH to ME

Ive owned Scotty Camerons
I WON my 1st Board Comp (major) with a Pro Platinum Del Mar 3.5

But IMHO a Scotty Cameron is no better than a Sports Direct Donnay / Dunlop , if it DOESNT perform for YOU

To ME, putters really are that personal

Dean, Im afraid, NO right or wrong answer mate, except, go out, try loads, DONT be a Brand Whore/Snob, and DONT discount ANY until u have tried a few putts with them, u may get a huge surprise

I won't ask Ethan, but I know that Sergio Del Mar Probably cost you a pretty penny!! Do you still have your limited release buttonback (The one you had up for sale a while back)??

As to the OP.

Yes, Scotty Cameron make excellent putters, the best IMHO.

I was fitted for my Del Mar and it's the best thing I ever did. Now I have the best of both worlds, a beautiful putter that, most importantly, works!

Just don't be under the impression getting one will make you a better putter

Sound advice fellas, thanks. I'm doing the rounds tomorrow trying every putter I like!

Looking down on something that you love the look of IMO inspires confidence. And if I'm confident, I always play better

Besides, I have a session on the SAM lab to look forward to with my putting.

I've had 4 Scottys in the last 12 years and they do look great in the bag, but as a putter they don't really do it for me.
In my hands they don't feel as balanced as I'd like.
I don't think that using a Scotty Cameron will make anyone a better putter, you already have to be a good putter to get the best out of them, they're generally not the most forgiving of putters out there.

I've been using a Ping Anser iwi for the last 2 years but I'd say Rife are making some of the best out there at the moment.
Im sure I read recently that Rife putters are by far the most popular putters on the minor tours-nationwide, europro etc.

Each to their own but I love my Kombi-S and can't see myself changing. I like the yes Sara putters also.

I, as others have said, believe scotty is now a regular brand after all they take no finding in shops ie you dont have to travel 45 miles to find one. I like the idea of the del mar but don't like the curved bumpers, would go with a no. 9 myself. Infact I did have a number 9 then changed to a custom made Slighter version and have now moved to an odyssey #7. A putter is a personal thing on many levels however I definately found that scotties and other milled face putters work best on very true and fast greens - lovely if you can get them but in reality not many greens are that great, this (along with sponsorship) accounts for tour usage for me. I have owned a couple of scotties but they didn't last long!

Scotty's are the best, no other putter comes close for feeling.

I've got the Squareback II and I'll never change. Full cord black grip and it makes putting a joy. Never seen another person gaming the same putter either. If I get down to +1 this year I'll be treating myself to the Circle T version ;)

You've got to try out a whole load of putters and see what feels best to you. That 'feel' will be based on whether or not you like the look of it when you are starting down the shaft and putting the ball through to what feel and noise the ball makes when you putt it and finally to the roll, distance control and accuracy you get from the strike.

I've tried a few different putters out in the shops but nothing has replaced my Sabre-Tooth yet - it just suits me well I guess.

Very much so MGL.

I'm not of the thinking Try as many as you can and see what you like

For me this approach is completley wrong.

If you want a putter that you know will suit you, go and get fitted and remove all doubt.

If, during the fitting you hole everything in sight with £30 flat stick great!! If you want to spend a bit more and still hole out, why the hell not!

i bought mine on a bit of an impulse, having had it a year or so there isnt much love left for it, for me it feels too light and i think i would like something a bit softer on the face. Putter fitting friday though.
