what is it about Scotty Cameron putters that everyone raves about? I have never tried one, but I am interested in all the fuss!!!
Having said that, ive just bought a 2nd hand Odyssey White Hot No.9 putter so not thinking of buying one, just curious!
They do look SWEET though!! but is the price tag really justified??

See many threads on the subject already.

Cameron makes high quality putters, any particular model of which may or may not suit your game or your wallet. If they do, great, if they don't look at something else. Repeat until you find something that works. Good luck.

I tried a Scotty Newport 2 when I was spec'ing up a new putter, along with Ping, Odyssey and YES!.

Very nice putters indeed but I prefered the feel off the face of the YES! putters and got myself a YES! Robin at a steal of a price.

Are they over priced, I personally don't think they are. There are a lot of putter up and around that price. Take the new Ping Answer Milled as an example (Around £199)

People don't think twice about splashing out £200+ on an R11, D2/D3 or Razr Hawk driver so why scrimp on a club that can, potentially, make or break your round.

Exactly, after all which club do you use the most, once you've experienced a Scotty everything else seems inadequate... It's been scientifically proved too! :p

I always thought you have to be a 'rotation' putter to get the best out of Scotty C's?. If you're a swing down line of shoulders putter, you'll normally struggle with them.

I'd be interested to know those that like Scotty C's, what style of putting they do....?

Turns out I have an inside-square-inside putting stroke and since switching to a toe weighted putter from a face balanced putter my putting has improved noticably.

You should try the california del mar.

I tend to go straight (ish) so the face balanced feels better to me.

I did Chris.

Tried a few of the California range (Del Mar, Corinardo, Holywood) as well as the newport and square back.

To be honest I had my heart set on a Scotty but the feel and concistancy of the YES! made it a no-brainer for me.

Im using a scotty cameron red x5 at the moment and loving it. Ive gone through a few putters lately but the scotty will be staying in the bag for a long time.

Not everyone raves about Camerons, there are alot of haters out there, just like everything, when you are making $$$ there will be haters!

I myself am a fan, a collector if you will. Have loved Camerons since 1996ish when i saw my uncle with a brand new £200+ (obviously alot and unheard of amount of money for a putter back then) gun blue catalina. In 1999 i was able to buy myself a ProPlat Midslant and its been camerons ever since.

Yes they cost more, but they are very high quality, and like someone has mentioned, some people dont think twice about spending £200+ on a driver or even in some cases £3-400 on a the latest tour shaft, but overlook the most (IMO) club in the bag.

I will admit that somethings cameron have got out of hand, like some $200+ belt buckles etc, but all in all, the putters are great.

Tour versions cost alot more again, but it is a very nice feeling to play exactly what the pros do!

I've swished the Studio versions and a fw others and they did absolutely nothing for me.
The Red X though is a different kettle of fish. Quite possibly the best putter I've ever used.

Straight back straight through for me but I got a nearly face balanced Newport 2.7. Admittedly Scotty doesn't make many face balanced putters. Mine is the most expensive club in my bag. It's also the one I've used the most.

Having switched from an Odyessey No 7 to a Scooty Cameron Newport 1.5 a couple years ago, I have never looked back.

Won 100 worth of Pro shop vouchers and my better half paid the rest for a Bday present, although, I would still pay 200 cash for it. Best club in the bag.

Most used club in the bag. The feel off the face and how the putter is weighted, I have yet to find a match for.

I have 4 Scottys and they are very nice putters.

Worth the extra pennies? not really when put against some other quality sticks out there at the moment but I guess you get that with a lot of top brand stuff.

I have a lot of putters and they are among the nicest ones I own but I would and do consider other brands.

4 Scotty's! which models?

Santa Fe - Tel3
Napa - Gun Metal
Newport 2 - Studio Stainless
Monterey - California

All get used and are in good nick but nothing rare.

I have some friends with what I would call a 'problem' and 4 scotties is what they have in the boot of the car at any given time to be close to.
