Scottish Open - Castle Stuart

Is Wayne Riley exaggerating about this wind? 50mph.. No chance.
I don't watch a lot of Golf but I'm enjoying this, great memories of playing CS.
Got to get back up there one day. They've just shown a nice shot over to Fortrose & Rosemarkie GC with the Dolphins just off the point.

Edit.. Radars really getting carried away now.. 60mph

no its a two or 3 club wind at most, just back from playing and no different to any other day up here.

Anyone else think this was a bit dodgy at first glance?

Minimal backswing/ scoop

I was watching this live and thought it was a bit iffy.

Initially I thought it was a ref up there with him so thought they must be happy but watching again looks like a marshal?

If he didn't have room to swing you'd normally stab at it to make sure you didn't scoop it.

Did the tour just have the greens a bit too quick for the forecast or what was going on? Seemed to be a fair bit of wobbling/ball moving happening

i think that just the way Pro golf likes them as quick as possible without any consideration for the conditions. That wasn't windy conditions for up here, just a standard day.

remember the open last year when they had to abandon play as the balls were getting blown off the greens... when all was required was them not to double cut and iron, they did it anyway!!

my club is 10 miles east of here right on the edge of the MF and i don't ever remember balls moving on greens, and thet certainly weren't last night and our greens are the quickest club greens up here.

Yep, the Open last year was a bit daft and wasn't that windy compared to the conditions we'd been playing in just a few weeks before.

I see the Guardian reports that the wind peaked with a 35mph gust yesterday. That shouldn't be unplayable as it isn't unusual, it also makes Radar's "60mph wind" comments even more ridiculous.

That Radar is full of sheer hite, earlier in the year at one of the Middle east swing evens he described 17deg and 15mph wind as "brutal" and "Unplayable"

Everyone I know is regarding wind speeds to be honest. Most have absolutely 0 clue what 40mph feels like. Didn't look that bad to me to be honest, they probably just prepared the greens to 11ish rather than raise the HoC a tad

Top gust on the day was 43 according to the tour

Said on coverage greens were at 10, so not over quick I'd say.
Agree on the comments re Radar.
If it was as strong as he suggested, flags would've been bending over - they weren't.
Still looked hard work mind.

might have been one gust at 40, but id be surprised if it was more than 20ish constant.

The pro's are so pampered and play in warm benign conditions most of the time, when the do get any sort of wind or cold they like us to think its unplayable..

it was windier than this last week when the northern open was on at Royal Dornoch and a journeyman pro shot 3 scores underpar on a far harder course than CS

Russell Knox quoted as saying how tough it was - "130 yards was actually playing 170 so we had to be thinking all the time".

Welcome to real life son!

Soft Florida boy was wearing a woolly hat as well.

Does anyone know when the stream on youtube goes live? Caught a bit of it yesterday and am a bit bored at work

Good spot, that was well dodgy.

I was watching this live and thought it was a bit iffy.

Initially I thought it was a ref up there with him so thought they must be happy but watching again looks like a marshal?

You see him move the club back and then stab at the ball. At first watch is does look iffy though.

Lucky he didn't do any damage with the slide! Not quite in Phil Mick's league from last year's USPGA.
