Scottish Commonwealth Games Kit

I think it's disgraceful.I'm all for kilts and tartan to represent our national dress, but this fashionising of it gives me the boak.

the woman that did it said on the news the other day her brief was to do something that stood out........ its that all right.

I saw this in the press yesterday but was reticent to post with such a large Scottish contingent and tartan and kilts such an integral part of their culture. I think the designer has done what she was tasked to do and made it striking and creative. For the ladies, I don't think it looks too bad but not sure it does the men many favours.

That said though, if the organisers are preapred to continue with such bold actions it will be a wonderful spectacle. I'm actually looking forward to it

A cross between a braveheart extra and low budget airline hostess uniform. Absolutely hideous.

Mind you, with the way the funding has been spent in Glasgow I'm surprised it's not a green n white hooped effort!

i think the tartan looks good, the blouses / dresses whatever they are look terrible.

heading up there for the games next week, see if i can pick up some new tartan golf jekylls in that design...

The bottom line is they spent too much on facilities and events and are now well and truly skint. So, Poundstretcher have stepped in and supplied all the athletes kit.

Amazing how a venture like this can run away with it's budget and get away with it and good old King Eck and his co-horts will bail them out with a £25M contingency fund

So much for being a jewel in the crown..... they should have learned from the last fiasco in 86..... don't touch the games with a barge pole, it's a massive debt waiting to happen :)

And, yes, the kit is an embarrassment !

looks like something yer mates force you to wear on a stag night or when a bunch of drunk blokes dress up as women for a stage show.

Hideous and makes us look like a bunch of nancies!

what egit thought this up and what egits approved it?

Why hasn't salmon been modelling the lovely costumes, being as he is such a great advocate of Scottish sport and innovation?....Oops,forgot again, it is the Commonwealth Games, and England are invited also.

Can I ask a question of our friends north of the border. When the Olympic torch came to these shores and did the rounds, expectations and excitement did seem to grow, especially once it had been through my town and the pubic anticipation seemed to grow. Now I know the Commonwealths aren't on the same scale but it all seems rather low key even now. Is anticipation beginning to build or is it really seem as a massive debt waiting to be paid for and all a bit of an inconvenience?

For me it's a massive debt to be paid off, nothing more than a glorified 'meet'.

The locals do seem to be turning out in the villages and towns to see the baton though, some are even trying to steal it in Kilmarnock.

Having said that I dare say I'll watch the athletics, more so the middle and long distance races.

It is bound to be successful, tickets were sold out to huge demand months ago.
The regeneration of East Glasgow is an added bonus.
The Hydro sitting next to the Armadillo and the Exhibition Centre look great.

The Baton traveled to St Kilda yesterday, an unoccupied island. Very strange decision that one.
