Heard today that The Machrie has gone into administration with only 3 of it's staff being kept on and given the task of keeping it trim for golf in 2011 should that arise!

Haven't played it but many who have rave about the place, maybe the fact it is an absolute *** to get to is the biggest issue but I am not sure what can be done to get around that issue. We went past the ferry on our way to Machrahanish last year and remarks were made that if we did the trip this year we should double up for the Machrie but the thing putting us off was the extra cost of the ferry and overnight stop at around £100 on top of the golf!

Hope it hangs on, one I'd really love to play. A wee Laphroaig or 2 in the 19th would be magic!

There was a good trip report on here with pics 2+ years ago by a forummer, can't remember who. Might be worth a search.

gcd told me about it last week as they go there every year i hope it can be taken over as a going concern. The thing about it is its expensive to get there and expensive when your there, pity as it looks good.

It was The Craw but he's removed the images from Photobucket unfortunately.

yea heard a couple of weeks ago about it ..looks like our trip in the spring`s up sh-t creek ..just need to wait and see if anyone comes in and takes it on ..doesn`t suprise me anyway - we stayed in the chalets and ate in the hotel ,but it`s dear, drinks on a par with home but the food`s very expensive ,the `machrie` golf club`s still getting to play ,so not all bad news

Its hardly belly up and its been there before, it will be bought over, that I'm sure of, its a great track however the hotel needs money spent on it.

It'll be up and running by the summer with a bit of luck, Redwood I think a GM consortium is a great idea.
