Ryder cup venues in britain

It's not just about the course, it's about the infrastructure with roads/airports/parking etc that all factor in. Pointless having 30,000 spectators if the roads can't cope, there isn't enough parking and not enough hotels

It was the same with motocross, often the best tracks didn't get the world class events due to other factors taking priority.

when was the RC at St Andrews?

Oops, dropped one there didn't I re old course.

edit Tashyboys CV to say only played one Ryder cup venue, got a distant pal who plays S and A as a member so I might ben his new Bessie mate soon.

The only venue that blew me away was Muirfield as a cours and I hope Royal Birkdale will do the same but to be fair these are known as open venues rather than RC venues. As a venue for hospitality the Belfry will take a bit of beating but the course is a bit marmite, lots like it (I did) and lots don't. Gleneagles is a great setting but the PGA course is just all right, not spectacular.

I'll get a knock at S&A this year as part of my recipricol, me and Jocko as a 2 ball for £40 ain't bad ;)
