I was lucky enough to get a ticket in the ballot but unfortunately I have since found out I will be abroad at the time of the event. Does anyone know if there is anyway I can transfer ticket to someone?

not possible, thats one of the issues with the way they have sold tickets, illness or life just meaning you cant attend also means no refund and someone who is desperate to attend also misses out plus less spectators. Have you asked the Ryder cup site you purchased from to get their official answer?

I understand why they don't want tickets being sold on an unofficial secondary market for multiples of their face value, but it seems strange not to offer an official secondary market for people that genuinely can't attend!

agreed!

Do you know that in the TOB's they have stated that if they come across anyone who has a ticket and doesnt match the photograph (person in photograph has to accompany your group) they have the right to ask you to leave!!!!

So I get 3 tickets, Maw Paw and child, I arrange to meet them there and give them their tickets as I'm running late- they either wont be allowed in until I turn up or if they do and are approached again could be asked to leave.

good and bad system they have in place. Good it stops touts but bad when genuine fans lose out who want to buy the returns (or no able too in this case) :(
