Apologies if this has been posted here before but what do our rules experts think would be the ruling regarding penalty situation here?

I'd guess at one stroke penalty, ball replaced back next the hole as it wasn't moving when the putter hit it.

At least I think that's what they gave Mike Clayton for doing it.

As the bàll had come to rest, Rule 18-2 would apply. Ball at rest moved by player, his partner, caddie or equipment. One stroke penalty and replace the ball. If the ball had been moving, then one stroke penalty and play the ball as it lies, Rule 19-2.
