I'm booked in at a local Sports Physio on Friday, hopefully they can get me moving in the right direction with it.
I was getting a bit worried about it yesterday as it felt pretty bad after 2 days rest, maybe it was the swelling/inflammation coming out.
Ive had plenty of ice on it today (mainly bags of peas/assorted veg) and its feeling a bit easier.
Thanks again for the advice and comments :thup:
Unfortunately, I've suffered the same and have had operations on both shoulders, one involved a 'repair' as the tendon had been cut away from the bone by calcium deposits that grew like stalegtites! The surgeon did this,
My symptoms were such that I couldn't lift my arm above shoulder height without using my other arm, but the most painful thing was when I tried tucking in the back of my shirt ................ I felt like I'd been stabbed.
The operations were call Sub-acromial decompressions. This increases the space above your rotator cuff which prevents impingement.
I ardently suggest the following ;
See your physio/doctor and obey their instructions.
Ask about having a steroid injection, it may ease your symptoms.
GET AN MRI SCAN ................. that was what showed my doctor EXACTLY what the problem was. Up until that point everybody was just guessing, an x-ray showed precious little.
I really hope you're diagnosis isn't as bad as mine was. Please understand that I'm posting a worst case scenario ..................... just in case.
Recovery was a slow but steady process but I now have absolutely no trouble with either shoulder and I also have full mobility in both.
Early diagnosis and an MRI scan is the key, I think.
Please, please, please don't put it off or ignore it in the hope that it'll get better on it's own.
I sympathise greatly & truly wish you a speedy resolution.
If I can help any further, let me know.
Slime.
P.S. Don't forget, I've given you my experience, yours may not quite so bad :thup:.
About four years ago I was diagnosed with a frozen left shoulder. Couldn't raise my arm above shoulder height, reaching behind me was impossible/agony. Tried everything, physio, cortisone, acupuncture nothing worked. After about 18 months, it just "unfroze" as quickly as it froze. Six moths later, same thing happened with my right shoulder, hopefully this now seems to be on the mend.
