Did one of those inversion sprains on the course three weeks ago and without getting gory it was quite deformed and swollen, anyway x-rays said no break but ligament is at least stretched & severe enough for crutches and plastic splint thingy’s

Been off the crutches/splint for 10 days now and just a stretchy joint bandage type thing still on. Still in a bit of pain when walking but wondering if anyone’s had similar and specifically how long before golf will return to pre accident pain free range of movement etc?

Played 18 on Saturday and with the restricted movement I could only hit a ball 150 tops & ankle was pretty swollen again by the end even with the buggy

(it’ll cost me to go ask the doctor this question and internet doc doesn’t really go into the overall recovery time only the treatment/initial days)
thanks in advance

edit: wouldn't you know it, after three websites and then posting the above I click on the next one to read this answer:
Generally, after an ankle sprain you will probably be able to walk a week or two after the injury. You may be able to use your ankle fully after six to eight weeks, and you will probably be able to return to sporting activities after eight to 12 weeks

Mods you can delete if you like or leave it if someone might find the info useful

Don't. You'll only wreck your swing or injure something else. Let it heal and just practise putting and chipping in the mean time.

Truer than you know, 4 points out and a bit more respectable 15 coming in :o (once I'd kind of adapted my swing to prevent chunking behind the ball)

I did the same while playing 5-aside football. Luckily I work with a orthopaedic surgeon who took a look and recommended not running on it for at least 6-8 weeks but I could walk/golf on it sooner depending on how it felt...however it did take 3 weeks for it to stop aching. He did mention not to be surprised if the swelling returned and just to apply R.I.C.E when it does.
