Rory out of PGA

I don't think his gym routine has injured him however I bet there are golf coaches and fitness experts out there that think his workouts are doing damage to his swing and body.

from what i have learnt his swing is wrecking his body and his gym work is delaying the inevitable. rorys swing has a shelf life. that has been discussed many time by bio mechanic experts.

in not having a dig so keep your nickers on. I just think that in this area its stupid to even think that you might be onto something. i am 100% confident that rory has people around him that are more qualified than anyone on this forum. People saying his gym routine has spoilt his swing is just stupid. if he swing was being ruined then rory and his team would know and take action. can't see them checking golf forums for advice
Knickers are fine mate, it's not me stating stuff as 100%.
Just people throwing out their thoughts.
It might be sheer coincidence, but whether you like it or not questions have been asked over the last few years whether his size or gym work has had a detrimental effect on his health.
As much as you have faith in his team, I'm sure with your knowledge and experience you've come across charlatans in the fitness industry.

i dont see how any of you can even justify your own opinions. you know nothing about rory, his gym routine, his swing, his genetic make up and the staff he is working with. so do you lot think that rory would have been better off if he'd come onto this forum for advise rather than seek the advice from professionals?

and there is no such thing as artificial muscle.

There is nothing natural about working out in a gym for hrs each day on machines pumping iron and nobody is suggesting Rory comes on and takes advice from here.

Its just an opinion that's all and if Rory goes on to win another 5-10 majors then great all is well but I suspect it will be only 1-2 if he is lucky - again just my opinion.

If he's not looking to build his muscles up why is he considerably bigger now than a few years ago?

Think the clothes are more fitted and clingy nowadays, makes players look more muscley. His weight is only 73kg, Speith is 84kg by comparison.
There was always going to be a bit of thickening moving from a 20yo to 28 too.
Weight training is there to help with longevity of career and prevent injury, dont think he's just doing it to get ripped for the beach!
Rory's long game is always thereabouts it's his shortgame and possibly mental strength that seems weaker by comparison.

there's nothing natural about swimming lengths in a swimming pool or running. weight lifting is no different to manual labour. i was a brickies labourer for a while and that was immense. lifting weights is no different. having worked in the body building industry for 20 years i can say with certainty that weight training "correctly" improves your standard of life in the later years. there's nothing unnatural about rorys gym routine (not the ones his allowed us to see anyhow "

Suspect the anomaly in weight between Rory & Spieth may be the 10cm (5") height difference or am I missing something here? Good on Rory for working out & showing a good example to young men & children alike. He's great for the game, although he's seriously in danger of turning into a mini soap opera of his own making. Gutted he's missing the BMW PGA. The European Tour certainly need him over here promoting events other than his own tournament (which I suspect he is aiming to be fit for at all costs).

Well, since the forum doom merchants have Rory all but dead and buried, I'll stoke the fire by saying that he'll be back and that he'll win more majors. He's too good a golfer not to be in contention and to win again, and that includes Majors. He's still young and will recover from his current injury and assuming a sensible schedule each year and making the most of the courses he likes and plays well, he'll be around for a long time yet.

i agree dcb, he said himself the injury was caused by him hitting too many balls and practicing too hard when he first came back from injury, he should have taken it more slowly, but he felt ok, it wasnt his gym routine but his eagerness to get back to hitting balls, too many, too soon.

I also agree with DCB.
Rory will win more majors and other big events.
Think people are forgetting just how good he is when fully fit & on form.
