Read this today and was not sure what his angle is , if they get picked then what , but to be honest I dont think they will get picked so why the need to say it ?

Where did you read this. I don't think Rory has anything to worry about on either score and I would be surprised if Rory came out and said the quote directly although he has made a few media faux pas recently so it could be right

I'm all for them playing tbh. Just shows that form is what its about when it comes to the Ryder Cup. Both are playing well on their tour.

He didn't say it out of nowhere. A journalist asked him whether he thought Langer (and/or Monty) should be picked for the RC, since they're dominating the Senior majors. He answered the question.
And he was right.

It was in an interview and he just said he believed that only people competing on the main tours should be in the RC when asked about Monty and LOanger
I would doubt Langer is qualified for the ET anyway but it's all academic as there's no hope for either getting in

Think PMcG said that Langer wouldn't be picked at the start of tonights Sky programme. Pretty much for the same reasons as the Op is mentioning....
