Rory McIlroy

Reckon we've got the Sky Sports Golf Christmas mini series "Rory Roars Back" to look forward to presented by Paul Brown Nose McGinley. Cant wait.

Respect him as a player and pleased for him he finally won.
As others have mentioned though some serious questions about him as a person.
Sulked and left when he lost the us open.
Refused to play in the Irish open.
Hit 2 balls directly at the crowd on Saturday without even holding his arm out, let alone shouting fore.
Says he watched "soccer" yesterday. So out of touch with being Irish.

So he is pretty much like every single top level sportsmen and certainly all golfers

Not sure when he “refused” to play in the Irish Open as he has hosted it a number of times - he has won it , played in it last year and is playing in it this year

Imagine a player being disappointed when they don’t win a major tournament when being so close

The reason he sounds whiney occassionally is when he maybe lost out and the interviewer askes "where did it go wrong", how can you give a positive answer to your own failure?
I think some people have a dislike and it doesnt really matter why, which is ok, noone is popular with everyone but acknowledging generational accomplishments seems like the adult thing to do?

For me, Rory is the greatest European golfer of all time, 5 Majors, 4 off them giving him The Grand Slam, 3 Fed Ex, 6 DP world race to Dubai, 5 Ryder Cups, he has done everything in the game of golf and he’s only 35.
I don’t even think you can dream of a career like that.
Not bad for a choker, Brian.

I'd still argue Faldo or Seve with their major hauls and their RC records. The Fed Ex didn't really exist and Seve in particular was instrumental in taking golf across the globe

I'm a huge Seve fan and a big admirer of what Faldo achieved but I think both of them are in Rory's rear view mirror.

Seve won 5 majors , same number as Rory but Seve didn’t win either the US Open or US PGA

Faldo one extra major but again didn’t win the US Open or PGA

Think when it comes to Ryder Cups Rory’s has won more than both of them

Rory has more overall wins than Faldo - Seve miles ahead

But the grand slam edges him ahead of both

The only European to do it
