Big achievement & will probably go on to be England's top all time scorer.
Just ad a few quid on him to open the scoring tonight.

A great achievement but, for me, never quite got as good as he should in an England shirt

Yes that's a great achievement and I'm sure he will be England's top all time scorer ,but he alongside Bobby Charlton will never be able IMO to be classed as the best all time England goal scorer, that honour goes to Jimmy Greaves with 44 goals in 57 games.

Well that must be the best goal to games ratio of any England player, wonder why he only played 25 games .
Think how many games he has dominated for England? Think how many big games he has scored in or made a difference? The top players shine when it matters and Rooney has not done that for England. Think of the top European players of the same era , Klose, Schweinsteiger, Robben, Xavi, Ineista, Pirlo et al. I can think of many games, qualifying or in tournaments, where they have run games or scored the key goals that won matches. Rooney has not done any of that, came closest in 2004 but never repeated. He is a good player but not a great and would not have reached half that figure had he been German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch etc. In terms of goals scored there are now too many soft teams to play in qualifying to compare his numbers against Charlton, Greaves, Lineker etc.

Decent post and not too much you can argue about. Seems to be far more games too and so many more opportunities for players to get to 100 caps and for the likes of Rooney to break records without being in the same category as Charlton, Greaves or Lineker who were out and out goal scorers. Looking back on the majority of Charlton goals and many were real stunners and much better in the air than perhaps any other England player before or since
