Never had one myself but my sister in law inherited one following the death of her aunt.
She fairly quickly went back to doing it by hand.
I suppose it boils down to how much 'clutter' there is around the floor space. I can see one working well around the lounge end but not the dining end in my house.

I got a mid level one from eufy. It is brilliant, when I let it out.. it can get stuck so best to use it when I am around. We have hard floor downstairs and carpet upstairs.. so I sometimes let it loose upstairs.. it is brilliant. But I have to close the kids bedroom doors as it can swallow Lego and other bits and bobs.
Basic idea should be to use 20-30 mins everyday .. saves me hoovering at the weekend.
I have to clean its belly after every use. A friend has one where it unloads itself + mop the floor..
