Im just wondering if there are any left handed putters out there who are actually right handers.

I'm really struggling with my putting and tried this using a friends left handed ping anser and actually started single putting from all angles.

should I go with it or persevere with my right hand putter

I have a friend at work who had a probem with the yips and eventually tried left handed putting and it has worked. He has now been using that method for seven or eight years. It shows that it is not a short term fix.

There are several players who are right handed but play left. When I used to play cricket I naturally batted right handed. But if we were playing to save the game I'd sometimes switch to left handed. I was able to play a near perfect forward defence left handed . No other shots mind, but you wouldn't get me out.
If putting left handed works then don't knock it.

Yes Kevin. I play right handed but putt left. Forced into it when I got the yips. Bought a second hand two sided Scotty and tried left handed with NO yip in sight. After some time tried it right again but the yip was no better so have now got an Odtssey white hot LH.
In my defence I am left handed for writing, table tennis, using a spoon and others but right for throwing, kicking, cricket and more o I use a hammer and saw both hands. I know I.m a right mixed up ambidextrous retiree.

Have you tried left hand below right ? Seems to work for Harrington.

About 6 or 7 years ago my dad used to be known around our club for his annoying ability to get up and down from anywhere, mainly due to his putting. One day out of nowhere he just completely lost it. He had a bad run where he kept missing crucial short putts and it completely killed his confidence. I dont know if it was the yips as such but he kind of developed this putting stroke where he decelerated so badly that his wrist pretty much stopped and he kind of flicked at the ball, and kind of followed the ball with his head. It was really horrible to see....

Anyways it got so bad that he actually started talking about quitting the game completely. Then one day someone suggested he try putting left handed. He tried it with his same right handed putting grip and literally instantly became a great putter again! Hes putted left handed ever since!

I messed about last year practicing putting left handed. I putted quite well (better than rh) but I felt that this was because my right eye is better than my left and therefore my peripheral vision is much better looking to the right. I could look at the ball and still see the hole when putting left handed. Would be interested to hear if you had better vision in one of your eyes.

Anyway, I didnt take the lefty stroke any further and kept practicing right handed. I've noticed that my left eye is starting to do what it's supposed to do n all :p

When I have issues with putting (like right now) I like to do left below right and I find it takes out a lot of the yips and wrist movement. I probably should start using it in normal games but it seems to clear things up for me to go back to normal putting.

I do know a few people who use the left below right all the time and there putting is really solid.

first time I picked up a putter I held it left below right, and I got a cheap bullseye putter to try left handed putting - it does work. Whether that's because I'm significantly right eye dominant I don't know (Claw - everyone has a master eye).

still once you've lined the ball up properly you shouldn't need to look at the hole only the ball at your feet.

Kevin, Try putting cack-handed with your right handed putter. IE right hand at the top, left hand at the bottom. My pro and a few others i have had short game lessons with are convinced its the way to go, i just cant gel with it.

They did explain why it was better, something to do with neutralising teh power of the hands i think.

Thanks for the info guys. I've been to seek advice from the Pro at the driving range and he has suggested what he describes as a cut forearm grip

Basically it consists of gripping low with you left hand, the holding the upper section with your right hand against the left forearm. I've also been told to try standing behind the ball so that it is lined up with my left toe.

I'm being told that this will remove the urge to twist my wrists and allow a constant putter swing through the ball

I'll see how this gets on and let you fellas know

I putt better on short putts left handed ( 2 to 3 ft), and used for years a bullseye(1990's) putter which allowed me to switch, I just felt more comfortable on the short putts. Now I use an tour black series Odyssey which suits me better all round so no more left hander's for me.
