Just been browsing round the net for a bit and im wondering ha sanyone used review sites to buy gear before trying them and which do they think is best.......

Before i ever pick a club up i searched around on the net for ages for some Irons that i might6 like.....I opted for the wilson staff di7's...Brand new and just out at the time....I knew nothing of C/F or the like and they didnt disappoint......It was golfalot.com that reviewed them.....

I had done the same with the w/s fg tours that i bought but didnt get on with them.....
Currently im playing Cobra S2's and im loving them....All reviews of them have been positive and if you have no access to C/F or Demo's i find there unbiased reviews very good....

Has anyone else purchased on the back of reviews and if so what are your thoughts?

Usually if buying clubs I like to go to golfbidder, and look at the user reviews there, because they show their handicaps and star ratings etc...I just feel there is a bigger range of opinion; and not just one magazine/website reviewer.

Saying that, Golf Monthly usually makes me aware of some clubs/equipment I'd like, and then I'll research a bit more...

Neer bought off reviews alone. It is so easy to find somewhere to try and hit clubs that it seems mad not to. If I am looking at a big purchase now though it is generally down to the pro shop to borrow the club for a couple of rounds.

The exception is the occasional mad punt that I take on a club that I just like the look of. Never spend more than £20-£30 on a punt but it is good fun. Latest was a Benross VXT Extreme fairway wood new off ebay for £20
