Replacement car key cost ??

One of my lads has a Seat Ibiza, at the weekend, the key broke. It's actually the button that holds the key on the fob.

Phoned The local Seat spares department this morning....... £208+VAT

It's only an open close fob, no electric push start or anything. WTF!!!

Try Timpsons the shoe place..they might be able to do it cheaper..the sign on our kiosk at Tesco says so...

As others have said Timpsons. My old mans fob packed in, he took it in and £40 later he was sorted.

Timpsons - any issues with keyless fobs? FiL has problems with his Skoda fob and Timpsons would be an easier option for him.

what year is it ?
The problem is its built into the top half of key remotes , did the pin just fall out or did top of key blade break ?. It more than likely wiĺ have to be coded to the car aswell

The blade section should detach from the remote button section. I think they have a transponder built into it that as has been said they will need to code the new, and existing keys to the car. VW group often do an option now of having 4 keys when you buy a new vehicle, and the cost of doing so is so much easier to swallow.
Been there, felt the same pain and now get 4 keys as option when buying a new one

Wish I'd Known about cheaper alts a few years ago when the key broke off for our VW POLO.....took it back to Scotlands biggest car dealers at Linwood place...actually thought I could just rock up, get new coded, job done !
So wrong, was TOLD to make appointment ( yeah pal, and you can do one!) So after ( rather warm ) discussion with Sales Manager and Service Manager, taken on the spot, sat with the papers and cups of coffee, hour later, "that's you sir, and that will be £250 oncers"-- couldn't even go nuclear as I hadn't even asked the price ( what a fud!!)
No wonder they were smiling when I crept out with tail between legs, well stitched up-Robbing barstewards!
Goes without saying that new car was not from AC ( and silver passed hands in direction of service dept .--purely to avoid any similar happenings,-you understand
