Does your club do anything.

During WWII a Lancaster bomber crashed on what is our now par three course. Every year there is a rememberance service at a memorial which is now on the golf course. Will be going tomorrow with young Bradley Tash to pay our respects.
All golfers have been asked to stop play at 11.00 for a minutes rememberance.

I don't think my club does anything particular on the day, but we do have a rememberance stableford competition across the weekend.

Also, there is a Heinkel 177 buried on the course and a memorial stone marking the point of impact in memory of the 23 yr old German gunner that lost is life in t crash. The story is here, in case anyone is interested. http://www.aircrewremembrancesociety.co.uk/styled-15/styled-21/styled-319/index.html

just had a read about it and as soon as the Mosquito had the Heinkel in its sights they were nigh on doomed. Poor sods. It was a formidable night fighter.

That's a great story, I didn't even know a cemetery for the german war dead even existed.
