Reflections on GPS units Screens

I've recently come back from Portugal and I experienced quite a few problems in trying to see my Skycaddie Screen in the bright sunlight.
Are all GPS units the same or some better than others ?

Is the backlight switched on?

Play in the UK, no bright sunshine here.

The Backlight was on and I was wearing decent sunglasses ( raybans)
can anyone tell me if the SGx is better than an SG 3.5/5 for reflections?
