Great post - Here's my thoughts.
Armed forces - pay monthly and suspend payment whilst on tour
Police - no discount
NHS - no discount
Fire service - no discount
Life boat - substantial discount
Local goverment - no discount ( I can't believe they get special deals at certain clubs!)
The reasoning behind my conclussions are based on the UK being a democracy and people having a choice to do what they want. The armed forces have my respect, thanks and goodwill but why should the police, fire service etc have a discounts for anything in respect of being in dangerous life threatening jobs (I'd be very interested in seeing the percentage of time they're actually in dangerous situations).
If discounts or reductions are to be based on dangerous or life threatening jobs then what about scaffolders, deep sea fishermen, miners, power line workers etc where do we draw the line?
Choice is for everyone.
