It is a red all day, however the Rangers player was very very lucky. Look at the position of his feet. I don’t know what he was thinking but he is lucky he was not seriously injured.

I'd say yes, for the reasons above. It actually might be an occasion where the slow motion doesn't quite make it look as bad as it is (for once), as the contact seems to be lower down on the top of the Ranger's players foot rather than high on the ankle. Could also see a VAR sticking with the referees onfield decision whatever that was.

Interestingly, the Rangers player looks to have stamped into the challenge with both feet, but obviously got there easily in time. If the timings had been slightly different, but the actions the same, then if the Rangers player got there just a little late I could have seen him causing the damage and getting the red card.
