thought it was going to be some interest in Egyptian lor

Mad-and-Ra, as RA is an egyptian God I believe in their mythology.

TBH, your reasons are farmore interesting than what I'd assumed. Made me chuckle anyhow. :) :D

I could have come up with something to do with how I golf I suppose, I could have used a nickname or even part of my name, though I'm a firm believer that we should not use full names on forums for security reasons.

I've used Cernunnos & Cern on various forums for a while & tbqh saw no reason to change to anything else. I've had a big interest in the past in ancient British History & Celtic Mythology & a few related interests.

In some ways Cernunnos is quite fitting as He is an ancient Celtic God/deity to do with the animals of the forests, life & fertility & the underworld. And seeing as at times I've spent some of my golfing in the woods, or searching through the undergrowth for balls then Cernunnos is perhaps not such a bad name to use.

I'm a firm believer that whether superstition or what, that Golf must surely have its own gods, for how many times have we heard golfers refering to the golfing gods, especially some of the strange things that happen on the course.

I've heard it mentioned & have also repeated such when for instance I drop a ball in the water, whether in the course of play or on purpose, "its a donation to the golfing gods" in the way of an apeasment. Hoping that by loosing a ball to the lake that my luck on the course will change. I mean how many of us have played coastal courses & set up on a seaward tee & blasted one out into the ocean as far as they can & made a wish I know I have.

So Golf must have its golfing gods & what better name for at least one of them but cernunnos. So next time you see a rook trying to steal your ball perhaps its cernunnos & a donation to the woods & Cernunnos or maybe the water gods of golf may be the right thing to do.

Cernunnos is a name I've used in the past when I was trying to set up a Folk/Rock/Metal band, though perhaps most of the musicians I was trying to recruit didn't have my eclectic tastes or vision in music... ho hum.

Feel free to call me a hippy now if you wish after my explenation... rofl. :D Though you'd be more correct calling me a Pagan.

The reason for my username? well my birthday is in sept, so I am pretty sure my mum was hammered at a new year party where she met my dad. :D

The name of my cat. He's black. Looks like a pint of Murphys, when viewed through squinty eyes, after a few pints.

Had a few one night, and decided to get an ebay account. Couldn't find a name that wasn't taken, til I tried Murphthemog, sorted. Internet user name from then really.
