I was a little apprehensive about today's game. Lesson on Monday, lots of practice on an unnatural (for me) movement or two. New driver arrived yesterday. Mizuno MX700
Rather too many variables for my liking.

Anyway. We played the course starting on the 10th (never a good thing) and from the off, my driving seemed to have some potential. I didn't hit any surprisingly long drives (they were straight though!?), a few yards over the old Wilson Spine on the first three holes, and then 15-18 don't require the big dog.

Came through the clubhouse (as it were), got to the 2nd and decided to really have a bash. I hit the longest drive EVER for me (on that particular hole) leaving 40-50 yards in on a 320. Nice :) On the 4th, absolutely nailed one miles past the corner of the dog-leg, 60 yards to go on a 340. :) I won't bore you with the rest but suffice to say, it was going very well and I even got on the par 4 444 6th hole with driver (260?), 4 iron. Shame about the 3 putt.

So, I'm really pleased with my swing and over the flippin' moon with my new driver. I definitely made the right decision for my gentle swing. Ping g15 (12), Callaway FT9 (13) or Mizuno MX700 (HL-13.5). It carries MILES on my swing and the total distance is probably about as far as possible off 80-85 mph. AWESOME. :)

Always nice when it comes together. Played nine holes tonight just to get out and enjoy the sun. All a bit rushed straight from work and not great but went to the practice ground and it started to click again so we'll see what the medal brings on Sunday

Cheers Homer.

I've been toying with the idea of more loft for ages, but my ego stood in the way. I realise it'll be small fry for some on here, but hitting over 250 has not been in my game since my late 30s.

Sadly, no games tomorrow and Sunday I'm not eligible.

Looks like more range work then.

:)

So you'll be on top form come Tuesday then Dave? ;) ;) ;)

LOL. :)

I've asked my partner to remember today for a while (I out-drove him on a few!) just in case he ever sees the MX700 snapped in half in a bin somewhere around the course.

I doubt it'll last. It nearly always the Indian.....except I might make an exception for this club.

Nice one Dave. Could well be due to low expectations today meaning you swung within yourself and as a result hit it miles. Don't get the rush of blood and try to larrup the cover off the ball Tuesday!!! Have a great game :D
