Before anyone says it, yes I know I could be reading 'real' books!

However, I prefer to read books on my smartphone Kindle app - helps with my minimalism and travelling.

Only problem - sunlight. The screen is completely dark in bright light.

Wondering if an IPad would be better - or another tablet?

The answer is a real kindle I'm afraid. I have a kindle fire and I can't read the app on that in the Sun, my wife has an iPad and it's the same. The lovely screen and picture mean you can't have both.

I have no problem with the Kindle app on the ipad. Had a Kindle e-reader for years, and no problem with that either.

I'd agree with just getting a Kindle instead of a new tablet just for this reason. I have Kindle Paperwhite and it's I've read it on many beaches and by the side of pool in the sunlight and it is fine.

Love my kindle, use the app on my phone/tablet if I don't have my kindle with me but that's not very often. You can't compare the difference a kindle paperwhite is great, self lit at night so no lights on and easy to read in the daytime.
