Range Session - in the next bay was...

He's lost weight since his playing days

He's certainly a big lad. Last time i saw him play was for Crystal Palace v Gillingham and he was biiiiig then. We went 2-0 down and both goals were his fault, they substituted him and we struck back immediately to draw 2 - 2 . He then moved on to Swindon.

Was at Stoke By Nayland driving range a few years back and the fella in the bay next to me was............
Sam Torrance :) I got a nod, a whife of ciggy smoke and a "its a bit chilly int it" :)

I remember hearing a story about him that when he joined Swindon they couldn't get a pair of shorts to fit him out of all the ones they had available, he was something like a 42" waist. Good player in his Liverpool days though

He played in my place once, the Sunday I got married - he was only about 12 though!

I Good player in his Liverpool days though

Sorry to see him leave Spurs when Sugar fell out with Venables.
He used to love to ping a long ball from the back, left to right with great precision.
Remember the equaliser he got against Man U in the 3-3 draw at Anfield. He got a right smack on the head and nearly ended up with concussion.

The same story went about regarding John Barnes when he came to Newcastle. He was very substantial in the hip and rear dept at that stage of his career 🍔🍟🍞🍩

My claim to fame. When my rangefinder was stolen a couple of years ago I put the case on EBay & I got a message asking if there was a "buy it now" because the guy asking was a caddy & was flying off to the U.S. in a couple of days. We did the deal & I asked him who he was caddying for & he said it was Charley Hull.

Got a few of these...

Back in the 1990s when I worked in Swindon across of Broome Manor GC, I used to have lessons from Barry Sandry... the range had a closed off area for lessons. On many occasions David Howell was in the next bay. What a gent and always chatty. A couple of guys I played with had played County Golf with him when he was a youngster and no one ever had a bad word to say about him. Even the range balls went off like rockets!

Another time on the practice ground at Radyr before a club match, Bradley Dredge was practicing .. wish I could strike a ball like that!
