Well iv practice tonight but not sure whether to hit the course practice range which is only a good size fairwY wide with 1green at either end and 170mtrs long..
Or hit the range with astro matts no grass and no putting green.

Driving at the moment needs work but the club isnt long enough. also putting needs work...

ONe dilemma i have is the range is 10mins from home whereas the course is 35 mins....
Plus i dont finish work till 6 so it would be at least after 7 when i got to the course.

What to do?

Range, bash away with the driver! On a better night hit the course practice range instead and do some approach play work.

Just because you should practice 140 yards in more does not mean you have to do all parts of your game in one session, just bias the practice to the approach and short game over the week/month/year/lifetime

Course. Make the most of the weather and if it's quiet, play a few balls from each tee. If you get there at 7, you'll still easily get 6 or 7 holes in (maybe even 9) before it gets too dark to play.

Course absolutely every time, i practice at the range however find that i just keep bashing away until the balls are gone.

At least with the course you can see where your 'bad' shots go and it focusses the mind.

Drop a few balls or hit two off the tee if its quiet.

you will find that the time is more productive nad if you go well will give you confidence playing the course next time.

Got to be at the course, the range at my course is about 200 yds long and normal fairway wide. Great if youre on your own. Putting area ok but the small practice area for pitches and bunkers is just far too small. But in my opinion better than the range. I save the range for driver sessions and dark nights!

Golf course for me. Best practice area you will ever find. Only getting one shot at it puts the pressure on, especially if you only ever have new balls in your golf bag.

Never quite worked out how you get an old golf ball.

Practice range or course? No matter what my good practice intentions are, if the 1st tee is empty the course wins every time.

This time of the year - course every time

went to our course today at lunch time with the intention of doing a couple of circuits of the par 3 course.

sun was splitting the trees and the first tee of the big course was clear, fought all temptation to go onto it though as I tend to try and race through as many holes as I can. Ended up playing 18 on the par 3 at a good stead pace and finished +4 which included 2 birdies.

Its part of the membership so saved money that I'd have had to handover at the range.
