We have a par 3 that can vary by 40 yards depending on the position of the flag and the tee markers so it's still handy to have a rangefinder.

Our shortest par 3 can vary by 25 yards on the tee and 30 yards on the green. What I am saying I look at the flag position and look at the tee position and 30 + years of experience has taught me which club to use.

I have had one for years but just last year I traded up to a newer one with slope function. I now know why most of us are usually short on our approach to the uphill 17th. What I thought was about 1extra club is actually 2 according to the slope reading.
