Not a great start to the season for me, Thursday was the first qualifier and the course was so wet that one hole was closed and several others were on temporary greens so the competition was off. Today should have been the Open mixed Greensome but the course has been closed all weekend, the forecast for the coming week is bad so I cant see Thursday's competition being on either.

The course was only closed for one maybe two days all winter which makes it all the more galling.

How are other courses fairing?

The rain right now is perfect for our course - been dry for a good month or so and we needed rain - had a good sprinkling on Thursday and another day or two would be great to help growth which is around 3 weeks behind in a lot of areas in the country

Our place is the same. Cold, dry, March no good for growth and therefore courses in general. A good week of rain and warmer temps should help no end.

Hardly any consolation when you've been looking forward to the season kicking off though!

O/T - ice or field hockey?

My course will be open, it's shale based so drains really well - however I'm on family duty this weekend, so nomgolf for me.

Hockey ;) As its called :D

Course fully open, but horizontal rain bouncing off the clubhouse windows so came home again. So much for the start of summer.

course open but I cancelled, no fun to be had in todays weather.

I think we're open but if anyone's out there then they must either be desperate or bonkers!
Blowin' a hoolie and we've had lots of rain too.
Not golfing weather.

Thick fog interspersed with heavy drizzle and blowing a hoolie to top it all off so a complete waste of time and effort really !...

Gonna sit down and warm the missus this afto !...

Miserable day. Howling wind and rain driving into the bay at the range. On the plus side the course needs the rain and as we've just had a week of green works this is perfect to wash the seed in and help the tined holes close. Every cloud and all that

It was Selborne Salver qualifier at Blackmoor today. Sadly for me the handiap limit is 6. Had I been eligible I would have played but the weather was awful and part of me was glad I wasn't there.

Anyhow, the results are in, the winning score over 36 holes was +12 by a fella playing off of scratch. CSS was +3(RO) for both rounds. God knows what I would have shot, but I'd still have played.

Woodhall Spa Spring Open this weekend, walked off when we could see the hailstones splashing in the puddles on the 10th green from 150 yards away
Within 40 mins the greens had cleared, it was a hell of a downpour wasn't it?

Comps called off at ours but course open. Not interested in playing in that weather though, complete lottery

Absolutely fine in Worksop. Tee'd off at about 2:45, not a sniff of rain, blue skies above but blimey the wind made it a difficult day. Strangely enough it was millionaires golf... Got lucky with our arrival time but have to say, given the amount of rain over the last 36hrs, it was in fantastic condition.

Very showery at Lanark yesterday and lots of casual water around, which I'm told is unusual for there. Massive hail storm but thankfully after we had finished!

Found a big pile of frog spawn in the middle of one of the fairways so I guess it's been pretty wet there!
