Might be a daft question but here goes, and be nice I'm not well

I'm looking at the R11S Driver at DG advertised for £199.00. Hopefully I can also use the 20% discount email I have just received, can't see in any T&C's that say I can't!

Anyway, reading up, it states you can adjust the loft by 3 degree's. So, with that ability why do I still have to chose whether I want a 9 or 10.5 assuming the adjustment goes each way and knowing that, what would give me the best variable? Or am I reading it incorrectly.

It is 1.5 in either direction. I have the 9 and have it set to 8.5 but I already hit a long high ball.
The 10.5 might suit you to the ground, it really depends on your swing. Can you try them out on a monitor?

Fixed that for you ;)

OK Cheers.

So its 7.5 <(9.0)> 10.5 or 9.0 <(10.5)> 12.00

I currently drive with my 3w RBZ and I'm always around most peoples drives with a stiff shaft and fast swing but I'm looking to slow that down to a more controlled drive so thinking about getting a driver with a regular shaft, 10.5 degrees.

Opinions?

I'm in the same boat. There is very little difference distance wise between my 910 and rbz 3 wood.

I don't think you will be able to,use any other discounts as its massively discounted anyway. Well that's what I was told in the Cambridge store this morning.

Your right, I just tried it and it says the code is not available to be used in this cart sale :(

I know its good anyway, but got excited when I got the email as well ;)

Yeah I know what you mean. Same applies with the Razr Fit although that is off my list. Let us know how you get on with the r11s though, that's one of my next ones to hit.

For a 23 handicapper (im getting the feeling you may be a bit better than this though) I would go for the higher lofted of the 2. I cant see you wanting to turn it down below 9 degrees but there maybe times when you have a struggle off the tee that you would benefit from having the extra bit of loft. Obviously the loft and shaft are inter related to give you a ball flight and if you get a chance to trial them I would recommend doing so

I'm prepared to keep it out of my bag until I get used to it but I did have a swing with a partners last week and struck it very well.

My driving was my biggest issue, typical of a higher handicapper but since September and a lot of hard work and hours and changing my coach, I am now extremely confident off the tee and my first comp with my 3w RBZ off the tee was at Blackmoor in the H4H comp.

I think this is the next step I need to make although everyone around me says I don't need to bother when I'm hitting the 3w the way I do!

never buy golf clubs or clothes on the basis of future swing changes or diets....ever ever

if the RBZ S shaft works then get an S - it's a long way from really stiff anyway and, when you 'slow your swing down' you should increase clubhead speed anyway!

definitely the 10.5

I hit a driver no more than 4 or 5 times a round and often dont hit it at all (love hate relationship lol) and constantly get asked why I even bother trying as I hit my 3 wood almost as far and a lot more controlled, main reason being i tend to get on top of the driver a bit too much rather than staying back on it a bit more. Strange game, almost feels wrong not to carry a driver but I havent more than half the games Ive played this yr so dont get too hung up on it if the 3 wood works for you

OK, thank you Duncan, good advice.

I agree, it just seems weird and you get funny looks when playing against new players with only the 3w sticking out of the bag and no driver to be seen!

When I hit it though, that's when I get the dirty looks and mutterings [23 handicapper my b****y a**e] ;)

I agree with the comments on getting more loft rather than left. As you get better you can lower it but I think if you start at 10.5 and can crank it to 12 the extra carry could pay dividends in the wet. Try before you buy and see if they can crank it to different settings and see how they play

Yes, think I'll go to DG in Solihull. Not been there yet but heard good things from our members so see what they can match to me and advise.
