R1 Black is official

One or two Taylormade cynics on here.

I am missing something here? I'm pretty sure that I've seen people who I've played with using black Taylormade drivers. Not that I take too much notice of others peoples' clubs as I'm too busy flapping about my own game, but one of the blokes I was playing with started talking clubs and I noticed his bag looked mainly Taylormade but he had a black driver. Anyway I was having a particularly inconsistent day with my RBZ and he mentioned that he never got on with the RBZ and went for the R1 instead. He did seem to have EVERYTHING custom fitted so perhaps it was an option? Also didn't Phil Mickleson have a black RBZ 3 wood at one stage?

They simply realized that a lot of people were not buying the Taylormade drivers because they were white. its pretty simple really and am unsure as to why you are making it such a big deal? Taylormade sell lots of golf clubs. some of their customers or potential customers have fed back to them that they don't like white drivers, so they paint their current one black to appeal to a larger market thus increasing market share and profits. what is difficult to understand about that?

Do a poll on here and ask how many people would NOT buy a driver simply because its white, i will wager £5 the response will be over 25%. that's 25% of the global market Taylormade are missing simply because of the colour.. It doesn't take a scientist or economist to work that out...

No but its also completely against what they said when they brought out the white drivers that they were easier to align etc. Just proves they will say anything to bring out yet another version of club (albeit we knew that anyway)

If they come out and say that White is the best colour for a driver - why make a black one?
Simple - white isn't the best.
The colour is nothing - Black, White, Blue, Red, Silver, we've got the lot.
