I'm off on a course for a couple of days next week which will involve two nights away.

With not a lot to do on the evenings, I thought it would be a good opportunity to get in some decent practice

I'm staying out at Seaton Burn just off the A1 and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for a decent driving range? Even better would be one with a short game practice area!

Your only a few minutes away from parkland golf course which has a driving range but the short game facilities are crap. Putting green is ok but you aren't allowed to chip to it. It has a tiny pitch and put area with a couple of bunkers but it is pretty poor.

You have about 10 courses within a 20 min drive but I'm unsure of the practice areas they have. If you don't mind driving about 30 mins I would recommend close house golf club as the facilities are spot on, both range and short game area.
Hope this helps mate.

p.s if you like any further info just ask

As richy says the range at parklands (next to the race course) is good. That seaton burn roundabout is about half a mile to my new course, arcot hall which is a top course.

Not got a range though but if you want a game its very close by and a good test.

Cheers, guys. Parklands looks an easy option but Close House looks the mutt's nuts.

If I've got time, it'll be Close House if not Parklands.

Thanks again.

Close House is first class but expect to pay near enough double the price to Parklands.

What sort of prices do they charge?

I was a member there last year but left due to the price increase, clearly going after the corporate business. The new course had around a £1000 plus vat joining fee. If I remember right it was about £5 for 60 balls where as Parklands is more like £3 for 50.
