Putting Rant!

I've just worked out that i took 23 putts for the back nine, which we played first (two tee start) and 17 for the front nine, making a total of 40 putts. Not good, but not terrible either. About 7 more than I normally take.

Hmmmm, a bit of putting practise required me thinks

I hit 12 out of 14 fairways and 4 out of 18 greens in regulation. The latter doesn't sound that good, but the course was rather wet and playing quite long, with little run on the ground. I was generally getting close to the green in regulation, chipping close to the hole and then missing the putt! I three putted 2 of the GIR holes from no great distance. Also struggled a bit with wet sand in the bunkers and chipping out of wet rough. :(

I still think you're making excuses.

So you had 7 more putts than normal and scored 26 points. How do you work out that you could easily have scored 40 with better putting?

I do practise putting and all the other parts of my game, otherwise my handicap wouldn't be as low as it is. At least I putted better on my 2nd nine (the front nine as we started from the 10th), but even then I missed several putts that I would normally expect to make. My points scores were 10 points for the back nine and an almost respectable 16 points for the front nine.

Hitting 4 greens in reg

I'll be practising trying to hit them first

As I say time of year greens won't be great so don't get down about it

Also greens had been tinned surely can't expect your best putting day on them

Meh, I wouldn't. I'd be practicing my chipping and putting to get close enough for at most 2 putts, but hopefully 1.
