putter with a bit of weight required

I use the same putter weight all year, I just adjust my swing. Heavy putters don't really work for me, and I think adjusting back in the summer would be an issue.

I'm in the same camp as Murph on this one. If you cant get the ball to the hole then just imagine the hole is a few feet past where it is or employ a longer swing. Cant beat getting to know your putter intimately in all conditions.

You'll come across all pace of greens throughout the summer too , slow , quick , grainy etc etc

If you like your current putter and the design allows, why not just add some weights to it?
I have some self adhesive ones that are used to balance wheels/tyres and have added a couple of these to my putters in the past and they work perfectly well.
I have some spare so if you'd like me to pop a few in the post to you I'm quite happy to do that.

;)
Thanks for the great offer Smiffy, our pro is giving me a bit of lead tape to try on the back, I hope it helps. Cheers mate.

Hi gang. I am looking for a putter to use on very slow greens. I am having trouble lately getting the ball to and past the hole and was wondering if a heavier putter would help to cure the problem? I like to stroke the ball not hit at it and this may be the root problem. Anyone know a heavier model of putter, all makes considered.

Hey there Drawboy,
Check out my review of the Ping 1/2 CrazE in the Post a review section.....I had a Taylormade itsy bitsy before it...

Not the heaviest putter in the world but i use a Ping Zing 2 - and at £65 (probably less now) not bad value at all. Had a 2 Ball before it and the Zing is much better for me and feels slightly heavier.
Try Eagle Golf in Leeds - got a stack of putters you can try in the shop.

Hi, I live about 5 ins from Eagle and I get most of my stuff from there, they have been good to me in the past. Great shop.

Luckily i don't or i would never have any money!! :D Though, just bought my Ping i15's from there week on Saturday ago and got a very good deal on part ex

Cheers

My Scotty Newport 1.5 is an 'extra heavy' you can order the model with the standard weights replaced for 5gms heavier (x2) from the Scotty Custom shop via Titleist.

Just a thought if you wanted to try a heavier putter without the heavy outlay......get yourself into B&Q and get a roll of the stick-on lead tape (used for fake diamond leaded light windows) add as much or little as you need.....it's what Tiger does (er....not from B&Q) rather than change putter!
Obviously don't stick any on the putter face!!!
I used to put a strip on the top edge and another on the leading edge of the sole.

Just in case this thread isn't done yet.

I did in fact go and try a few "heavy putters" at a Direct Golf

Started with this

tried a similar one (nice looking silver model)

and even a medium weight

I didn't leave with one, but I have to say
a) they are beautifully made
b) they are super stable and require very little effort on short putts (almost no backswing needed!)
c) they are HEAVY.....surprisingly so.

I really wanted to like one, but not for me.

However, I did try an Odyssey Sabretooth....not very good looking but very impressive. Better than my Monza Corsa, hard to say.

I like the sabretooth especially the new white ice version which has a firmer feel than previous incarnations. I have to say although not a heavy putter the #9 (Mickleson) model is calling me too especially for the summer

You know, I like Odyssey putters but just can't get on with them off the shelf. It seems (to me) that Odyssey shift them by the lorry load despite the fact that they all seem to come 35" and standard lie. Virtually every other make (based on what I've seen) seem to offer at least a few 34"s to the big chains.
I have a C/F putter, an inch shorter and a few degrees up....maybe if manufacturers (other then Ping) made some effort to supply a few models in various spec's they might actually sell more.

Dave,

Not sure where you've been looking but AG at Camberley, Slough and Maidenhead all have versions of the odyssey ice range in 34" (admittedly not the entire range simultaneously) and the regular range as well (again not all at the same time).

The joys of living dan sarf. :)

We just get cast-offs and ancient kit up here in border country. :)
